7 Day Prayer Challenge to Get Us On The Paths of Righteousness

Day 1: The Path of Love

Love is action, it is decision, choice. It means I lay down my life for the brethren and other sheep that aren't of the fold, everything. It is the pouring out of myself not for selfish reasons, but for the other person(s). Jesus' life was poured out for us by God, and we know what love is because he gave His life for us (1 John 3:16).

When we give to God or others of ourselves in a way where there's a price we are showing love. Love is not selfish, it is self-less. Love is putting Christ at the center of everything we do. And we put Christ at the center by exalting Him in the way we are toward others. Not many of us understand this love or how to be "led" on this path. Keller says, "Once a person discovers the delight of doing something for others, he has started through the gate being led into one of God's green pastures."

Are you loving Christ and others above yourself?

Pray with me now for God to lead us on this path of righteousness:

Good Shepherd, thank you for directing me thus far on the path. It seem's at times I may have gone astray, living my own way that seemed so right, yet so easily led me down the wrong path. Forgive me. Bring me back on this particular path of righteousness called LOVE. Show me how to lay down my life for the brethren and those who are not of this fold. Remind me You are my Shepherd, I shall not want. Help me to exalt You by loving You and others above myself. Amen.

"God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:9-11

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;" Philippians 2:3
