"When times are good be happy, but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other." Ecc. 7:14
So many numerous times have I failed to believe the reality of this verse. Bad = good? But how? The bible says all things work for good to those whom love him (Romans). All things meaning our adversity and trials as well. Why are these things as well as the good? Because God in His power and wisdom ordained them. We can learn to trust that in each and every circumstance He is in control and He has a purpose. Good or 'bad'.
Nothing is out of His sight and nothing passes His attention. Nothing slips through the hands of the living, loving, and all knowing God. Joy can be found at all times whether we feel it or not. It is knowing Gods promises and protection, for nothing He does is to harm us. It is knowing the outcome of our faith and our eternal destination and trusting and living in light of our new home. We don't live for here. We live in light of our future with Christ, and when we do that we can say God has made one (happiness) as well as the other (trials).
