I was reading crazy love tonight and it said "The bible says that when we obey God's commands, we benefit."
Well, to be honest at the start of things I did not feel like feeding the homeless today. But, I did it because the Lord commands us to take care of people in that situation and I love the Lords commands. We are not to follow his commands just when we feel like it or help them just when we feel like it. Loving the Lord, serving Him, and obeying Him should never be based on feeling.
The more I talked with these people, handed out lunch to them, and prayed for them, the more I felt like I was the one being blessed. I experienced the benefits of obeying His commands (Matt. 25:40), loved every moment I spent with our homeless friends.
So, I would encourage you to push past those moments when you may feel like loving others as yourself is not doable. You never know until you try, and you will see the blessings and benefits from God. :)
