A Heart for the Nations

Recently I have been praying to God that He would revitalize my heart for the nations. In my freshman year of college I had taken a course called intro to global studies. In this class we had a workbook called “God’s Heart For The Nations”. I remember being so moved to pray and help those countries that we lost and did not know God. Anyway, my point is I had a big heart for God’s nations a few years back. It has been awhile since I have had this heart. So after praying for the awakening of my heart in this area, He has surely answered. I remember before I prayed this prayer, and while everything in Haiti was happening, I could’ve cared less about it. But it is amazing how God answers our prayers. He brought me to tears today for that country when I heard on the fish about their poverty and how some Christians were there trapped in the rubble of a collapsed hotel. Tears! God I didn’t think you would move me that much! I praise you Lord for answering my prayer, & I pray that you continue to keep my heart in this broken position for the nations for life. In this class (intro to global studies) we memorized Psalm 67.
It says this:
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face sine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you. May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth. May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you. Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us. God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear Him.
Join me in prayer for Haiti & the nations:
Dear Lord,
I come before you today to intercede on behalf of all the people in Haiti. It is devastating how many lives have been lost and how many children are now orphaned. You know what is best Father and all suffering is for your glory. Take the broken nation and heal it. Let many people turn to you because of this disaster. I pray that lost souls will acknowledge that you are God, and only you who put them in such a situation can bring them out of it. Be with my brothers and sisters who are ministering to the Haitian people. Keep them safe, keep them strong and bless them for all they are doing to serve for your glory. I pray today for the persecuted church around the world. Protect them from harm, and if harmed to the point of death, all for your names fame and glory. I pray that you strengthen them when they are weary or being tested in their faith. Send your Holy Spirit to intervene for them. I pray now for those nations that have not been reached. Send believers to the remotest parts of the earth when and where needed. Prepare the hearts of those who will hear about you and all your son has done. I pray that you make believers, including me, strong and bold enough to share your gospel to a lost world. I realize that this begins now in the world around me at school, work, home and my community. Help me make a change for you. Amen.
