I was sitting here thinking back in February 14, 2009 about love and joy. Joy (as defined by the dictionary):
1.
the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying; keen pleasure; elation: She felt the joy of seeing her son's success.
2.
a source or cause of keen pleasure or delight; something or someone greatly valued or appreciated: Her prose style is a pure joy.
3.
the expression or display of glad feeling; festive gaiety.
4.
a state of happiness or felicity.–verb (used without object)
5.
to feel joy; be glad; rejoice.–verb (used with object)
6.
Obsolete. to gladden. .... you get my drift even if you just read one of the above.A feeling, an emotion.God always reveals little things to me here and there and its funny because they're usually things that other people won't realize or understand. My christian chiropractor said its like i have a fifth demention (haha). But I really have been blessed to have insight into things in a way that others don't and am blessed to have that close relationship with God....He in the most miraculous way let me know what joy truly is. This always happens either through scripture or life experience. He has caused me to come to the belief that Joy is in fact not a feeling or an emotion. (What do you do in times that don't feel delightful or happy?) Joy in my definition now, is a positive outlook on life, a good attitude about things. I say so because I have experienced what it is like to "feel" no "joy", and He has me constantly excercising my mind and my spirit with His truth. He has me excercising the way I see my situations and the attitude I have about them. So even though I may not look or feel joyful, I am JOYFUL this day :)
And as for love, there is no greater love then in the arms of Jesus. I go back and remember in Highschool when a boy was not necessarily more than God to me, but probably just as equal. I remember having to chose God over him so that I can grow in love with Him, & man was it the best thing that I did because you can't serve two masters. Then in college, when God was my number one & not tied for first place, He allowed me to be with that young man again. He then put me through something so tough that ultimately separated the two of us again, but it showed me I could only rely on Christ, and that I still had some growing to do before I could be in a relationship solely about Christ. It was after that illness that I was able to love people in a Christlike manner, forgiving, and loving even when I would be hurt. Where I am at today is a place in which God has showed me all this has been for my good as hard as it was. He has shown me on this day of "love" that this person was not meeting my spirtual need, which resulted in me not getting my emotional need met either. I realize now that I was not feeling the love of Christ from this person, even at a friendship level & that I was feeling as if I had done something wrong to deserve it when I didn't, and it broke my heart.
Friends I encourage you to wait for the right kind of man/woman God has for you & remember yes, they will not be perfect. But yes, they must know how to love others like Christ, striving to do that as much as possible. But you must be the same. I warn you now, that nothing must be above or equal to God. Your significant other can not be your Jesus, & I think so many times the world makes love look that way, so drown yourself in the word on what love really is and thats exemplified through what Christ has done for us, because the way the world see's love is everywhere and you'll get drowned in that. Not only read it, but practice it and you will become more like Christ. I am so blessed I learned that at the ripe young age of 18, so many don't realize that till the middle of their marriage.
If ever there was a man that was in love with me more than he is with Christ, I would be disgusted. Women you should never have to feel as though you are the spiritual leader or as though you are the only one loving and living as Christ. So make sure your man is spiritually mature as you if not more. And I don't mean knowledge, I mean in action and truth. Be strong single ones, take heart and love your Jesus. I read in a book called The Sacred Marriage once 'If you want to serve Jesus, stay single. And if you want to become more like Christ, then get married.' What if you want to do both? haha. But I guess what I want to say last is that you can probably practice becoming like Christ in every sort of relationship of life. So do so. Try so. And become so. The song below is what made me go back to highschool today, and how at times people put things before or equal to God including boyfriend or girlfriend. That there are so many things that people try to fill up the God shaped hole with when only the Savior can. If anyone feels that this is the case in their life then I encourage you to break away from what that is & put Him first. It may be hard, but it is worth it. And If you haven't, try Jesus out I can assure you His love will never fail. It won't be easy at times but His love will never fail but prevail. (rhymes I know).
